Star Wars Live Action TV Series

Star Wars fans have known for several years that a live action TV series has been in the works to cover the 19 year period between the birth of Luke Skywalker in episode III and his meeting Obi Wan Kenobi and joining the rebel alliance in episode IV. In all this time though little about the details of the seris have been revealed.

We do know that George Lucas is financing the series himself and that it will focus mainly on new and minor characters from the films. It's also reported to be more character-driven with stories focussing on how events affect the denizes of the Star Wars universe.

The length of the series is also unknown with talk of it running anywhere from 100-400 episodes and even the possiblity of it spltting off into multiple series as time goes on. With 19 years to work with though, there's certanly plenty of material to draw stories from.

What we do know at this point is that production has begun in Australia and the series is expected to begn airing sometime in 2010. George Lucas is writing and producing the first season personally and will then hand off the seres after the groundwork is laid. It has also been heavily runoured that Boba Fett is one of the few chaacters from the movies who will play a part in the new series.

While more details remain to be seen, one thing that can be counted on is that Star Wars fans will be anxious to see the end result when the series hits the air.
